Data Recovery From Usb Thumb Drive With Broken Pins.
closeup
To open a USB thumb drive in a solid plastic housing,
use a dremel tool, making a precision cut on both sides of the plastic.
Do nut cut more than 3/4 deep in to the plastic to avoid
cutting the circuit card.
Next remove the outer case and steal sheath around the
circuit card.
Next use an exacto knife and bend the 4 pins up to a 75
degree position.
Cut a new USB cord in half (3 feet) and strip back the 4
wires. You should have a Red wire (+5V VCC) a Green wire (Data +) a
White wire (Data -) and a Black wire (Ground).
Carefully solder each wire oriented exactly the same as
would be if the thumb drive were plugged directly in to the PC.
The slightest mistake will destroy the USB thumb drive
and possibly the computer you are plugging it in to.
