| Alot of citizens want an audit of city finances for the last several years to determine why we have lost nearly 50% of our savings and experience a potential $8 million budget shortfall.
This is serious considering the budget is only $80 million.
The cost of this audit has been toted at about $400 thousand; it has been announced by several council members that it will exceed $1 million. This is simply a deterrent to turn down the heat. The people who are actually pushing to vote down the audit are two of our former mayors, Dan Corbin and Scott Cosper.
This was evident when the city waited till three weeks after the Republican Primary run-off election last May so Cosper would not be affected in his election to the State House of Representatives.
I actually know a forensic accountant that worked for the IRS. Now, he is retired but he could probably give us a baseline on what we should be expecting as far as costs go. Any questions? Join me on Facebook/Larry Smith for District 2.
